Core Features

Alerts & Notifications

Configure high-signal alerts, understand Daily Narrative delivery, and manage notifications without alert fatigue.

Alerts & Notifications

You cannot watch the market all day. And you should not have to — most of what happens on any given day is irrelevant to your positions. The signal-to-noise problem in financial markets is not a content problem, it is a filtering problem.

Swingtrader's alert system is built around one principle: if it fires, it should matter.

Portfolio price alerts

For every position in your trade ledger, you can set three types of alerts:

  • Stop loss

Get alerted when price approaches or hits a downside level you define. Use this to protect capital and enforce risk limits.

  • Take profit

Get alerted when price approaches or hits an upside target. Use this to lock in gains or reassess the trade as it reaches your objective.

  • Price alert

Get alerted when price crosses any level you specify, in either direction. Use this for key technical levels, breakout points, or areas where you want to re-evaluate the position.

The Daily Narrative shows every active alert with:

  • Its current proximity (how far current price is from the trigger, as a percentage)
  • Any recent news that might be driving movement toward that level

You do not need to check each alert manually — the briefing surfaces the ones that are getting close so you can focus on the few that matter.

Telegram delivery

You can receive your alerts and briefings where you already communicate: Telegram.

  1. Connect Telegram from the Profile page.

Once linked, your Daily Narrative arrives as a direct message every morning before the open, formatted for reading on your phone.

  1. On-demand updates

At any point during the day, send /update to the Telegram bot to generate a fresh narrative on demand.

If the market is moving and you want to know whether any of it affects your positions, one command gives you an updated briefing within seconds.

What you do not get

Swingtrader is intentionally opinionated about notifications.

You do not get:

  • An alert for every headline
  • A notification every time a stock you own is mentioned in the news
  • A push notification every time a screener result changes

Alert fatigue is real. When every notification feels low-signal, you start ignoring all of them — including the ones that matter.

Swingtrader keeps the threshold high by design so that when you do get an alert, you know it is worth your attention.

Managing alerts

All active alerts are visible in the Alert Watch section of the Daily Narrative, ranked by proximity to their trigger level.

You can:

  • Add alerts from the trade ledger when you create or update a position
  • Edit alerts to adjust levels, types, or thresholds
  • Deactivate alerts from the trade ledger or directly from the narrative view

When an alert triggers, it is automatically marked as inactive so you are not re-alerted to the same level repeatedly. You can always create a new alert at a revised level if the trade plan changes.
